Smith Richards, Inc. was established as a Michigan corporation in early 1990 by C.R. (Bob) Richards to supply components for Ford Motor Corporation re-manufactures.
The parts were used primarily to rebuild power window regulators and power window motors. This market evolved and gradually diminished. During this evolution Smith Richards moved more and more into the recreational vehicle market developing linear power actuators for power sofa bed applications.
This in turn lead to the design and production of components for motor home power seat adjusters, power foot rests and several other applications involving comfort and utility in motor home, travel trailer and marine products.
